What Is Choref?

Machane Choref is Habonim Dror's annual winter camp! It is open for Years 3-11. Even if you aren't a regular at Habo, camp is an open and inclusive environment for everyone. Filled with year level programs, camp activities, ruach and, of course, vibes, it is an unforgettable camp experience! Refer below for general luz (timetable).

Due to the current climate, we are unfortunately unable to run a camp on a campsite - however, we are following the AZYC guidelines and restrictions set by the government and are planning for in-person activities

Frequently asked questions

HOW DOES CAMP LOOK THIS YEAR?

Camp will be looking a little different this year due to the current climate. We are currenlty planning in-person structures at community cerntres (rather than a campsite) whilst keeping up to date with AZYC and governemnt guidlines. Activities will include: - Peulot - Chuggim / Activities - Activities with external organisations - General camp structures (ruach etc) Both camps will be IN PERSON from 9:30am - 4:30pm. Junior camp is staggered to ensure only one year level is running activities in a space at a time. For senior camp, each shichvah (year level) will have one night finishing at 8:30pm for a special dinner. Peulot will be located in separate community centres (locations sent in email prior to camp), with a maximum of 20 people per space (all socially distanced). Please be patient with us during this time and feel free to contact us. Thank you for your understanding.

WHO LEADS AND RUNS CAMP?

We have many amazing madrichim who have been leading their shichvah (year level) the whole year and have put a lot of work and planning into the activities. Our leaders went through a leadership training program in Israel (During their Shnat program) or Year 10 Hadracha leadership course, and are going through additional leadership and safety training during the year. Camp is run by a tzevet machane who oversee all camp related issues. This tzevet consists of Rikki, Brandon, Ben with Mazkirut members Brooke and Serena.

CAN I TRUST TO SEND MY CHILD ON A HABO CAMP?

Yes! All our leaders comply with the AZYC's safeguarding children policies and Working With Children (WWC) check. These comprehensive policies ensure your children are always safe under our care. For more information click on the links below: AZYC Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy AZYC Guidelines for Parents AZYC Rights of Young People We have amazing madrichim who are well practiced in educating and looking after children. We spend a long time thinking about the safety of our chanichim on camp, and are constantly developing new and better structures of running camp so that it is fun and also safe. Habo camps have been running for decades, which provides us years of experiences, and have always been large and successful camps.
